The papers include correspondence, sermons, teaching materials, typescripts, published writings, appointment calendars, and other materials related to the life and ministry of Shawn G. Sheehan. The materials pertain to his parish activities and church movements. Many of the sermons were delivered to the Sisters of Charity in Convent Station, New Jersey. The collection also contains Sheehan's files related to Rev. Thomas Carroll.

Catholic priest and author. Carroll was born in Gloucester, MA in 1909. He studied at Holy Cross College and St. John's Seminary, as was ordained in 1938. He served as assistant to the Director of the Catholic Guild for the Blind, and became Director in 1946. Carroll was also active in the liturgical movement. He died in 1971.
